    Thanks for an extremely well-done and flattering podcast. On this point, at least, we seem to think exactly alike. I have often quoted the Whit Stillman speech you used (attributing it, erroneously, to Barcelona). Another aphorism of mine runs, “The self-justifying utterances of murderers, thieves, cowards, blowhards, and madmen all enter the quote books under Shakespeare.” I had especially that speech of Polonius in mind. That you arrived at all of this independently makes me think we might be on to something.
