Pledge drive

I come to you, dear reader, asking for help.

I rarely post ads here. I certainly don’t get any money from them, nor do I try to. In fact, I’m philosophically opposed to using this site as a forum for consumers. This won’t change.

Still. Nevertheless. I’m now over four years into this blogging adventure, and I gotta say: This is a bass-ackwards model of publishing. To wit: I’m paying a host for the privilege of publishing, and not the other way around. Content may well want to be free—a hype phrase I despise, by the way; since when is “content” a sentient being?—but it sure is costing me something. $8.99 a month, for the last 54 months, to be precise.

So, here I am with my hat in my hand, asking for a donation. It doesn’t need to be a big one. Any amount will do. There’s a PayPal button to your left. If you’re scared of making financial transactions through the internet, you can email me at wbiggins2 at gmail dot com for a mailing address. If it weirds you out to be paying for a blog, and you’re worried that all of this terrific content will soon be hidden behind a pay wall—don’t be weirded, don’t be scared. It won’t happen.

Instead, think of all you’ve gotten over the past 54 months, and which can be accessed through the archives at no cost whatsoever. If you can’t or won’t donate, that’s okay; Quiet Bubble will still be free, I’ll still like you, the writing will remain here for future perusal and/or snickering.

But, but, but… If you do donate $5 or more, and provide me with a mailing address, I will send you a free thing. If you provide $10 or more, you’ll get two free things. More details to come by the end of the month, but the freebies will be good, albeit modest, items.

So there. Support your local blogger, and keep him out of trouble.
