Kanye West and the rainbow flag

Did you hear what Kanye West said? No, not the stuff about George W. Bush. I mean the stuff about homosexuals. I’m being disingenuous, of course. I’ve heard about it–once. But West’s comments seem to have disappeared into the media ether. Over at PopMatters, Jonanna Widner not only argues that his comments should be on everyone’s mind, but also convinces me that West’s statements are, in the hip-hop world, “tantamount to Bob Dylan going electric.” He’s still not as skilled a rapper as he thinks he is, but, all the same, I suddenly like the guy a whole lot more.
