When you read a sentence like “Lots of retarded–ahem, mentally challenged–people love Huey Lewis and the News,” it’s hard not to crack jokes. But when you read a detailed account of how roughly 10% of the people at any given Huey Lewis concert have developmental difficulties, it’s a little sobering and surprising, like hearing that Morrissey has a huge Latino fan base. Katy St. Clair explains it all here.
