An evening with kneebiters

Yes, QB will be spending tonight amidst hordes of caped kids awaiting the next adventure of their favorite hero. We’re going—with C., her cousin, and some other acquaintances—to the local book-o-polis to observe the Harry Potter phenomenon at full blast. We’ll pick up Daniel Pinkwater’s latest book and then tell the 10-year-olds, “This is what you should be reading.” We’re obstinate and childish that way. Plus, we haven’t even read book 5. We presume dozens of kids will spoil the plot for us, and we’re okay with that.

Over at Conversational Reading, Scott Esposito asks if it is indeed okay for full-grown adults to spend so much time with these books. Our short answer—it’s Scott’s as well—is “yes,” but we might have more to say after tonight.

Have a good weekend, folks.
